New Balance Foundation

Since its inception in 1981, the New Balance Foundation has donated more than $19.2 million, thereby supporting a myriad of domestic programs that positively impact the community by mobilizing and engaging citizens. The New Balance Foundation focuses its grant making on programmatic and geographic areas we consider relevant to our business mission and community at large. We believe this strategic concentration allows us to achieve the greatest impact within our operating budget. In 2006 the Foundation granted more than $5.1 million.

Our core focus is the prevention of childhood obesity, an important endeavor we believe will significantly contribute to the overall health and well being of our communities. At the same time, we recognize the additional needs of our local communities and strategically contribute to other program areas primarily targeting underserved youth. Our secondary program areas include Education & Athletics, Health & Human Services, Arts & Culture and Environment. The Foundation also responds to Disaster Relief around the globe as needed.

Geographic areas of focus have been identified by the Foundation in order to achieve greatest impact in our grant making. We look to partner with nonprofit organizations in the communities in which we operate facilities. The corporation has prospered from its operations in New England and the Foundation is able to express its appreciation by being active in the local communities on which we depend; Boston and Lawrence, Massachusetts and Norridgewock, Skowhegan and Norway, Maine.
